In the face of mass protests and calls for boycott, Israel’s Eurovision entrant has qualified for the Grand Final of the competition this Saturday.

Eden Golan, 20, was voted for by members of the public from across Europe in the second Eurovision semi-final on Thursday night.

Earlier this week, the singer was booed during a dress rehearsal, but said that it wouldn’t deter her from trying to win the competition for her country.

In a statement following the incident, Golan said she was “proud” to represent Israel, “particularly this year” adding “I am receiving support and love and I am determined to give my best performance tomorrow in the semi-finals and nothing will deter me from that goal!”

Israel’s Kan broadcaster, which coordinates the country’s participation in the contest, said: “[The crowd] did not silence her and they will not silence us. See you tomorrow.”

It was also reported that Golan received extra security from event organisers, and was escorted to the semi-final by security staff.

Thousands of anti-Israel activists clashed with police as they took to the streets of Malmo to protest Israel’s inclusion in the competition. There have been growing calls for Israel to be removed from the competition, and the inclusion of Golan has seen several LGBT venues in the UK cancel their Eurovision screenings, including the Rio cinema in Dalston.

DAMAGE CONTROL: Brandon Claims He Will Send Israel Fewer Weapons

If Jews “Go Into” Rafah

See: Israel Officially Announces Rafah Slaughter, Moving in Full Force

This isn’t believable.

We saw Bibi setting up his population for this. It’s part of a narrative they are weaving to allow Biden to attempt to change the climate in America.

It’s just theater.

The Guardian:

Joe Biden has issued a blunt warning to Israel that his administration will stop supplying bombs and artillery shells if its military pushes ahead with an offensive on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, in what could mark the start of a turning point in relations between the two countries.

The US president delivered the warning in a television interview in which he brushed aside Israeli and Republican complaints and made clear his administration would not provide the weapons for an offensive on Rafah, which the US, the UN and other aid agencies warn would trigger a humanitarian disaster.

I made it clear that if they go into Rafah – they haven’t gone in Rafah yet – if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities – that deal with that problem,” Biden told CNN.

They have “gone into” Rafah. They are “in” Rafah.

When we speak of this, we are primarily talking about bombs, not soldiers. The overwhelming majority of deaths have been the result of bombings. But they are also moving various troops into the area. The Israeli government officially announced this on Tuesday.

Biden’s statements – from Wednesday, about 12 hours ago at time of writing – do not even make sense. Even if you were to claim that a massive bombing campaign, an evacuation, troop movements into the area, and an official announcement of an “operation” do not amount to “going in,” this is no longer a far-away threat. This is something he will have to address in mere days.

The president was speaking after it was announced his administration had paused the delivery of 3,500 munitions, more than half them 2,000lb bombs, which can cause devastating damage and severe civilian casualties when dropped on densely populated areas.

Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs and other ways in which they go after population centers,” Biden said.

From what I read, the shipment Biden supposedly stopped is totally irrelevant, as it was a small amount and other shipments are going through normally, and anyway, Israel has huge stockpiles of these munitions. A real end to this slaughter would mean announcing that all weapons shipments are being cut and that the US will end its bizarre and unexplained Israeli military support program.

That said, accusing them of bombing civilian centers is the most aggressive statement Biden has made this whole time.

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on a Rafah offensive to destroy what Israel says is the last stronghold of Hamas in Gaza, despite repeated US warnings about the humanitarian impact on more than 1 million Gazans sheltering in the city, has brought a simmering US-Israel rift to the surface.

Gilad Erdan, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, said he did not believe the US would stop supplying arms to Israel, but called Washington’s decision to hold up some weapons shipments “very disappointing”, even frustrating.

Joe Biden “can’t say he is our partner in the goal to destroy Hamas while on the other hand delay the means meant to destroy Hamas”, Erdan told Israel’s Channel 12 News.

The hold on the munitions delivery also drew a quick response from the Republican leadership.

“Israel faces an existential and multi-front threat … and daylight between the United States and Israel at this dangerous time risks emboldening Israel’s enemies and undermining the trust that other allies and partners have in the United States,” the House speaker, Mike Johnson, and Senate Republican leader, Mitch McConnell, wrote in a letter to the president.

Biden stressed the US would continue to supply ammunition for Israel’s main air defence system, Iron Dome, which performed well in the face of an Iranian missile and drone barrage last month, but he said Washington would not supply offensive weapons that would be used in an offensive the US believes will be disastrous.

We’re going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks that came out of the Middle East recently,” he said. “But it’s just wrong. We’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells.

US officials made clear that the pause would not be a one-off if the Rafah offensive went ahead: other arms deliveries that have already been approved could be delayed, and shipments waiting for approval could also face obstacles, such as a pending consignment of 6,500 joint direct attack munitions, or JDAMs, which convert freefall “dumb bombs” into precision-guided weapons.

A Guardian investigation this week found a US-made JDAM was used in a March airstrike in southern Lebanon that killed seven health workers. Analysis of debris found at the site of the attack revealed shrapnel from a 500lb (227kg) Israeli MPR bomb, as well as the parts of the JDAM that connect the munition to the guidance system and remnants of its motor.

Okay, so. These are relatively bold statements from Brandon. I stress “relatively.” But it’s certainly a complete tonal reversal from his ongoing claims that he would support whatever Israel did no matter what.

The thing here is: these campus protests are a big deal. Along with being important in their own right, they are a big sign of shifting US opinion.

We have seen Bibi flipping out over the protests, demanding that the US shut it all down. Presumably, Biden’s people explained to the Israelis that the only viable way to shut down the protests, while they are in the process of making laws to shut it all down, is to do some kind of big public display of a break between Biden and Israel.

People keep comparing these protests to BLM. This is bullshit on many levels, because George Floyd was a hoax. However, in June of 2020, polls showed that 65% of Americans believed Floyd was “murdered,” and only 22% of people opposed the (extremely violent) protests. Further, it was student protests that led to the end of the Vietnam war. These protests mean something. It is only logical to engage in a big theater show involving a break between Bibi and Biden in order to try to get a grip on this movement.

There must be some kind of plan here. Biden is saying he will at some point in the future cut weapons, pointing to this “going into Rafah” as a point at which he will do so. Who knows what exactly this will entail. What I can assure you it will not entail is the US removing the warships from the seas surrounding the area protecting Israel from Islamic revenge. Further, even if he announces a total cutoff of weapons, you will witness Israel continue to act with impunity, never running out of bombs.

Either Israel has fully stocked enough bombs to do whatever they want for as long as Biden is attempting to do something, or Biden will only restrict certain shipments.

At worst, Biden could stage a big show where he “tries” to stop the bombs, but the Congress overpowers him. That is absolutely the most extreme thing that could happen.

What will not happen: the US government will not stop supporting Israel’s military.

The Jews have a stranglehold on the American government. Obviously, many of these Jews do not agree with Bibi’s methods. However, none of these Jews are willing to put Israel at risk, and Bibi has the absolute ability to hold Israel hostage.

You can imagine a situation where your son is on fentanyl and you keep saying you’re going to stop giving him money but he threatens suicide. That is basically the dynamic between Bibi and leftist American Jews. (It’s not a perfect analogy.)

This isn’t going to end until it’s over.
