“The Jews Have No Conscience Left – It Was Burned In The Holocaust®” – Arab League Chief

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit said in an April 22, 2024 interview with Sada Elbalad TV (Egypt) that the Jews have no conscience left, because it was burned in the Holocaust.

He continued to say that Israel is the product of a “problem that existed in Europe,” and which was “transferred to the Middle East.” Aboul Gheit said that Palestinian resistance against Israel does not constitute terrorism, and he likened it to the resistance in many European countries against Nazi Germany in World War II.

He added that Israel does not have the right to self-defense because it is an occupier.

A Hamas delegation is expected to arrive in Cairo on 29 April to deliver its response to the latest Egyptian–Israeli drafted proposal for a truce agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The visit comes in the midst of several conflicting reports regarding Hamas’ position on the proposal.

An anonymous Hamas official was quoted by AFP on 29 April as saying that the group has “no major issues” with the latest proposal.

“The atmosphere is positive unless there are new Israeli obstacles,” the official said, adding that Hamas representative Khalil al-Hayya will travel to the Egyptian capital on Monday to deliver the response.

In an official statement early on 29 April, Hamas confirmed that it “did not issue any statement in its name, nor attributed to sources in the movement, regarding the [Israeli] response paper that we received from the mediators.”

“This response is still under study. The leaks issued by some media about this aim to cause confusion,” the statement added.

According to an Axios report on 28 April, Israel has – for the first time – signaled that they are open to discussing an end to the war.

Israel has proposed, in line with the Egyptian truce initiative, a willingness to discuss a restoration of “sustainable” calm in Gaza after an initial release of Israeli prisoners held in the strip, the report states.

According to two Israeli officials speaking with Axios journalist Barak Ravid, the proposal includes Israel’s “willingness to discuss the establishment of a sustainable ceasefire as part of the implementation of the second phase of the deal, which would take place after the release of hostages on humanitarian grounds.”

However, a Hamas leader responded by telling Al-Mayadeen that the Israeli proposal “does not reflect a fundamental shift” in Tel Aviv’s position.

Hamas still holds dozens of Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip. The group has so far held on to its demand that any truce and exchange deal be dependent on an end to the war, an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, return of the displaced to northern Gaza, and reconstruction of the strip.

According to Axios, the Israeli proposal reflects an openness to allowing a return of displaced Palestinians.

US President Joe Biden held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 28 April, discussing Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah – which Israel claims is Hamas’ final stronghold and has plans to assault. Over one million Palestinians, mostly displaced from other areas of Gaza, are stranded and besieged in Rafah, and any military operation there would pose the threat of an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.

Washington has consistently warned Tel Aviv that it would not support an operation there unless a safe evacuation plan is formulated.

Biden reiterated Washington’s “clear position” regarding an operation in Rafah, according to a White House readout of the call.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told ABC News on Sunday: “They’ve assured us that they won’t go into Rafah until we’ve had a chance to really share our perspectives and our concerns with them.”

Israeli journalist for the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Ronen Bergman, said on 28 April that achieving victory and freeing prisoners through an operation in Rafah is “pure illusion and nonsense.” On Monday, Hebrew news outlet Channel 12 reported that a number of reserve officers refused orders to prepare for assaulting Rafah, citing an “inability” to continue fighting.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Saturday that Israel would “suspend the operation” in Rafah if a prisoner exchange deal is reached.

PFLP warns British troops in Gaza would be ‘legitimate target’

A BBC report stated British troops may be deployed to drive trucks delivering aid from the port being built by US troops on Gaza’s coast

Britain troops deployed to Gaza or its coast will be treated as occupying forces and will be legitimate targets for resistance, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) warned on 28 April.

The warning follows a BBC report on Saturday saying British troops could be deployed to assist with delivering aid to Gaza from an offshore port now under construction by the US military.

The BBC report, citing unidentified government sources, stated that the British government is considering deploying troops to drive the trucks that will carry aid from the port along a floating causeway to the shore.

Though US forces are building the port, White House officials have claimed that there would be no US “boots on the ground” in Gaza.

The British military is already involved in the port’s construction by providing logistical support, including a Royal Navy ship to house US soldiers and sailors working on the project.

British military planners are currently embedded at US Central Command in Florida, as well as in Cyprus, where aid will be screened before shipment to Gaza, the UK Ministry of Defense said on Friday.

“It is critical we establish more routes for vital humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza, and the U.K. continues to take a leading role in the delivery of support in coordination with the U.S. and our international allies and partners,” Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said in a statement.

Aid agencies have asked Israel to simply open the road crossings into Gaza to allow additional aid to reach the starving population.

The PFLP clarified that Britain’s justifications for sending troops to Gaza “are lies that deceive no one.” The resistance movement added that British claims about delivering aid “are merely a pretext for the permanent presence of military forces on the ground for malevolent colonial purposes and to protect the security of the Zionist entity. This is something our people and resistance are well aware of.”

Though US President Joe Biden announced the construction of the port as his own proposal in March, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu first suggested the idea to Biden in October.

Netanyahu has also suggested the port could help in the “voluntary” deportation of Gazans to third countries.

The PFLP issued a warning in March stating that the US plan to build a port on the Gaza coast is “suspicious and dubious,” as it would open the door to the forced displacement of Gaza’s population under humanitarian and other pretexts.

Fears of forced displacement via the port are rising, given Israeli threats to invade Rafah on the Egypt-Gaza border, where 1.3 million people have sought refuge from Israeli bombing elsewhere in the strip. Such an invasion would cause a new wave of displacement and massive numbers of civilian deaths, aid officials and western diplomats have warned.
