Russia has summoned the Israeli envoy in Moscow over remarks by his colleague in Kiev that glorified Ukrainian militia leaders who sided with Nazi Germany against the Soviet Union during World War II.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that it had “invited” Israeli charge d’affaires Ronen Krausz “for a conversation” about the comments by Israeli ambassador to Kiev Michael Brodsky.

Referring to Nazi collaborators Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych, Brodsky recently said Israel does not like that the pair are role models but conceded that “for most Ukrainians, these are heroes who fought for their independence.” He also noted that Tel Aviv’s support for Ukraine should not be conditioned to Kiev’s portrayal of such figures as heroes.

During Tuesday’s summoning, the Russian Foreign Ministry blasted Brodsky for “whitewashing” Ukrainian Nazi accomplices.

“Russia and Israel have done a lot to rebuff attempts at rewriting history and glorifying Nazi castigators’ accomplices, including within international formats,” the ministry added.

It also underlined the need for “an unequivocal assessment of the actions of those who … fan Russophobic sentiment,” saying they are “inspired by such war criminals as Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevich, who stained their hands with the blood of thousands of innocent victims, including Jews.”

Last week, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused Brodsky of “glorifying Nazism”

Ukrainian Nazi collaborators “were not heroes, but demons, and this was not an identity, but a disgrace for the people of Ukraine,” she added.

Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, with President Vladimir Putin saying the goals were “demilitarization and de-Nazification” of the East European country.

Israel has faced sharp criticisms from both Moscow and Kiev as the occupying regime tries to maintain ties with both sides amid the war.

In a statement on Sunday, Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgeni Kornichuk claimed the Israeli regime is “hiding behind the demagogy of its neutrality” while expanding relations with Russia.

Kornichuk also lashed at Israel for its refusal to supply weapons to Kiev over fears that they may fall into the wrong hands.

Since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has repeatedly demanded from the Israeli regime to provide it with weapons, including air defense systems, but Tel Aviv has consistently rejected all requests, saying that in the interests of its national security, it would limit its assistance to Kiev to humanitarian aid and non-lethal equipment.

(JNS) Olena Zelenska, the wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, visited Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, on Tuesday.

Zelenska visited the Book of Names installation and the Hall of Names, where she listened to an excerpt from the newly launched audio guide in Ukrainian.

The first lady also attended a memorial ceremony at the Hall of Remembrance and visited a tree planted in honor of Sukhenko Yakov, a Righteous Among the Nations (a non-Jew who risked his life to save Jews during the Holocaust) from Ukraine.

Towards the end of the visit, Zelenska met with a group of teachers from Ukraine participating in an educational seminar at Yad Vashem to learn best practices of how to teach about the Holocaust.

Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan accompanied her throughout her visit.

Zelenska‘s visit follows her breakfast with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and his wife, Michal, in Tel Aviv on Monday.

Her tour comes against the backdrop of Israel’s supply of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Israel has also taken in an estimated 40,000 refugees and provided medical treatment to the wounded with Magen David Adom.

Zelenska also toured Safra Children’s Hospital at Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan on Monday. She held a professional discussion with the National Coalition for Trauma and NATAL—The Israel Trauma and Resiliency Center together with senior representatives from Israel’s Foreign Ministry and the European Union.

In May 2022, Zelenska initiated the creation of the National Program of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, to help Ukrainians overcome trauma caused by the war.

“Mrs. Zelensky’s visit is the result of a collaboration that took place over the past year to strengthen therapists in the field of mental health and trauma care in Ukraine, and as a result of the relationship formed between the wife of the country’s president, Michal Herzog, and the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, in these fields,” said the President’s Office.

Ukraine has lashed out at the Israeli regime for its refusal to supply weapons to Kiev over fears that they may fall into the wrong hands, accusing Tel Aviv of forging “close cooperation” with Moscow.

“The current Israeli government has chosen the path of close cooperation with the Russian Federation,” Ukraine’s ambassador to the Israeli regime, Yevgeni Kornichuk, wrote in a statement on Sunday, citing “almost complete lack of Israeli humanitarian support to Ukraine.”

“This is evidenced by a series of rather controversial events that occurred in the first half of 2023,” the statement added, pointing to a number of events, including a “futile visit by an Israeli foreign minister to Ukraine in February of this year,” and a series of interviews by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Ukrainian envoy was referring to Netanyahu’s recent interview with the regime’s Jerusalem Post daily, in which he insisted that Tel Aviv was not going to supply weapons to Kiev out of fears that they will fall into the hands of Iran and be used against the occupying regime.

The Israeli premier further pointed out during the interview that the regime was already seeing Western anti-tank weapons, which were originally supplied to Kiev, near its borders.

The Ukrainian ambassador, however, ridiculed and dismissed Netanyahu’s remarks as “completely fictitious and speculative allegations,” saying, “As their primary purpose, all the relevant statements made by the Israeli prime minister have always been aimed at justifying Israel’s complete inaction in providing defensive assistance to Ukraine over the past year and a half.”

“The Israeli leadership, hiding behind the demagogy of its neutrality (although it is no longer hiding it at all), is actively building relations with the Russian Federation,” Kornichuk added in his official statement.

“In reality, on the ground, the so-called neutrality of the Israeli government is considered to be a clear pro-Russian position… We call on the Israeli government to change its position and support Ukraine with defensive means, to support freedom and a democratic world order.”

Israeli FM summons Ukraine’s envoy, reiterates support for Ukraine

Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen declared during a press briefing on Sunday that Kornichuk will be summoned to the regime’s foreign ministry to be officially reprimanded for his public condemnation of Tel Aviv’s ties with Moscow.

Denouncing the Ukrainian ambassador’s “harsh” remarks, Cohen countered, “Despite the complexity with Russia, Israel stood with Ukraine from the beginning of the war until today, publicly supported its territorial integrity and its sovereignty, and voted to condemn Russia in international forums.”

“Israel sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine in an unprecedented manner,” Cohen insisted, noting that this year’s sum would surpass even last year’s total of NIS 80 million and pointing out that the missile warning system Israel was currently “adapting” to Kiev would ultimately save Ukrainian lives.

Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu has said he was considering military assistance to Ukraine.

Since the start of 2022, Ukraine has repeatedly demanded from the Israeli regime to provide it with weapons, including air defense systems, but Tel Aviv has consistently rejected all requests, saying that in the interests of its national security, it would limit its assistance to Kiev to humanitarian aid and non-lethal equipment.

Further reacting to the accusations of Kiev’s ambassador, Cohen added: “I’m not going to stoop to this discourse. I have announced that we support Ukraine’s sovereignty and [territorial] integrity. We have voted [in support of Kiev] at the UN, [Israeli] soldiers have met with Ukrainian soldiers, and we have provided humanitarian aid.

29.04.2023It’s time once again for everyone’s favorite online game show “Spot That Nazi”, where our contestants try to find the hidden, or not so hidden, Nazi, Banderite, or other associated far far right nutters, self-identifying and photobombing through their ubiquitous NeoNazi tattoos, patches, symbols, flags, shirts, or other regalia, that has become almost a guaranteed prerequisite over the last year in Western MSM photos, vids, and reports on the West-backed Kiev Putsch regime’s military forces in Ukraine.

Our challenge today comes from a recent Reuters report on the Spartan Storm brigade, or SS Brigade (wink wink) one of the 12 new Ukrainian Offensive Guard, or assault brigades, that have been newly and hastily assembled for the Kiev Putsch regime’s much ballyhooed spring offensive. Reuters interviews the SS brigade stormtrooper “Adolf”.
